| What Does a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) Mean to You
As baby boomers rapidly become the largest American population of senior citizens in our history, senior-focused services are becoming increasingly important to our society. These days, people retire later than they ever have before, are living longer, are remaining independent later in their lives, and are purchasing homes for their senior lifestyles in record breaking numbers.
In recognition of this fact and of the building need for specialists in senior-friendly real estate, the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) designation was established.
In order to earn their SRES® designation, REALTORS® must complete an intensive 12-hour specialized training course called A Licensee's Guide to Working with Seniors. This course provides real estate agents with the foundation they need to understand the unique needs and desires of a matured individual.
Included in the A Licensee's Guide to Working with Seniors’ 12 hours are the following topics, as well as many more:
- How to service the special needs of a 55+ client niche
- Developing and maintaining marketing skills that speak to seniors
- The difference between selling and counseling your clients
- How to work as a part of a team with other seniors specialists
- A solid foundation in tax laws, probate, and estate planning
- Improving communication skills
The SRES®, in combination with time and experience, give seniors interested in buying or selling a property the confidence and security of knowing that they are dealing with a specialist who can help them in precisely the right ways.
